Invasion of the Snow People

Sounds like an episode of Doctor Who doesn't it? Well, if the thousands of snow people had come to life, they could have taken over London.

This snowman was right beside the London Eye and the parliament buildings. Why is the sky orange? I have no idea but the first night that I went out to do some night photography (another blog of those shots are to come), this is exactly what the sky looked like. The night after the big storm, the clouds were thick and low and the lights of London were reflecting back very brightly.

Some creative person made a rather unusual and questionable snow lady on a park bench right near the London Eye.

How insanely cute is this little girl? She was with her mother outside their flat right next to the Victoria and Albert museum.

"London Storm Chaos: Reports Pictures"

The headline says it all. The severity of the storm was greatly exaggerated - at least by Canadian standards.

Alot of people were worried about the weather reports coming out of Britain while we were away. Fear not. It could not have been more beautiful or scenic. Everyone in London had an impromptu day off and were out with their cameras photographing the city as they had never seen it before.

The oncoming storm: the view from our apartment window on Sunday evening when the storm began.

The next morning in Hyde Park:

Of course we were going to find Jack Russells in London!

The London Crypt

We had just found the Crypt: an old church, near Picadilly Circus, where the basement (ie. the Crypt - complete with ancient tombstones) has been converted into a funky cafe. We had apple crumble and bread pudding with clotted cream. Our arteries hardened just looking at it but it was lovely.

Then, upstairs in the chapel, we happened upon a group of musicians rehearsing for a concert later that evening. So we sat for a spell, digesting the beautiful sounds and our pudding. What an amazing leaded glass window.

Window Shopping

These are the coolest set of taps I've ever seen. Seen in a window in the Kensington area on a random stroll through the streets of London. We actually got completely lost that evening and had to hail a cab to take us home.

London

We're back from our vacation to London, Cardiff and Paris. It was an amazing, magical trip. Here are a few pictures. There are somewhere between 2000-3000 photos for me to organize and edit. I'm working towards a photo & journal book of our trip. However, that will be weeks in the making. In the meantime, as I edit photos, I'll place some of them here for you to view.

Thanks for looking. I'll do semi-regular updates from now on.

This photo was taken while our ride on the London Eye was winding down. We were lucky that they had just turned the lights on at Parliament.
